What I Wore...Ginger Ninja

Last Wednesday I decided it was time for a change. With the exception of my year of rainbow coloured hair (God bless you 2012), I have been blonde for my entire 28 years. I alarmed my mother by announcing suddenly that I had booked with my hairdresser 2 days later to have my hair dyed red. She was apprehensive, as was my hair dresser. Thankfully for them both, I was not dreaming of mahogony or Ariel the Mermaid red, but the deep copper trademark of Christina Hendricks and Karen Elson.

To make the most of a new hair colour, you need to take the time to assess your makeup and clothing. With this new copper, my naturally pink complexion needed extra coverage. You don't want your skin clashing with your hair. I also needed to go down a shade of foundation, so I chose MAC Studio Fix for medium coverage, in NC15.

For my hair's first outing I need an equally striking outfit, so I chose my newly purchased vintage Kimono. I picked it up for only $30 from a local store specialising in traditional Japanese clothing and silks. It was also the first outing for my new Mimco Aladdin heels, which were not only extremely comfortable, but attracted many admiring glances from my friends and fellow diners.

Imagine my shock then, when Kel suggested I looked like Fry from Futurama...
