Beautiful Things...Vintage Style

It's intriguing how styles evolve over time. They acquire new meaning as they find a place in the lives of different generations. Although she thinks the clothing is beautiful, my mother does not think fondly of the 50s and 60s. She remembers a time when difference was not accepted, a time when women did not enjoy the opportunities they have today.

The pin ups, Vargas girls and sirens of today are powerful women. They have taken the feminity of vintage shapes and colours, and imbued them with contemporary strength. Juxtaposing elements,  tattoos, piercings and modern day attitude mean they are certainly not waiting, doe-eyed for their dance cards to be filled. If you don't want to dance with them, fine, because there are plenty more where you came from.
